Dr. Liping Zhu, DAOM, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M

Dr. Liping Zhu, founder of Qi Dragon Healing Center and Heavenly Essence Qigong Institute, is a Nationally and California licensed acupuncturist and holds a doctorate degree in Oriental Medicine (DAOM, LAc.). Dr. Zhu was certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) as Diplomate of Oriental Medicine in both Herbology and Acupuncture in 2004. Dr. Zhu obtained her Masters in Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in 2004 and graduated from Doctoral of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from ACTCM in 2015 specializing in Woman’s Health and Pain Management. Dr. Liping is certified in facial rejuvenation acupuncture by the Chi-arka Center. She also holds certifications in Shiatsu and Tuina massages. She completed a post-graduate 2-year study of TCM Dermatology Specialization Certificate Program taught by Dr. Jialin Yu in 2012.

Dr. Zhu is a disciple and authorized instructor in both the Heavenly Essence Qigong System and the Daoist Tai Yi Swimming Dragon Gong family lineage. She was a gold medalist in the 1996 International Martial Arts Tournament. She also had 10 years residential training in the Soto Zen Buddhist tradition at the San Francisco Zen Center and became a Shuso in 2010. Dr. Zhu was a Professor of Qigong at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM ) for more than  15 years and also taught Qigong and Herbs at San Francisco State University (SFSU).

She has been practicing acupuncture, herbal medicine and Te Yi Medical Qigong for more than 15 years and has taught Qigong and Taichi to people of all ages for over 25 years. Dr. Zhu recently relocated to Eureka, Humboldt County.
As a native of China who is fluent in English and deeply immersed in both cultures, Dr.Zhu makes Qigong, this ancient Chinese healing art and spiritual path, very accessible to the Western world.

Dr. Liping’s extensive background in Qigong, Taichi, and Zen Buddhism adds to her uniqueness as a Chinese Medicine practitioner in the healing of both body and mind.

Dr. Zhu started her intensive Taichi training in 1990 with Grandmaster Yu Anren, the 12th lineage holder of Yu’s family tradition and became one of his initiated disciples. She was a gold medalist in the 1996 and 1997 International Martial Arts Tournaments for Taiyi Swimming Dragon Quan and Taiyi Riding the Wind Sword. In 2006, Dr. Zhu met her Liu He Ba Fa teacher Master Yun Yinsen and spent a three-month intensive study in Shanghai with Master Yun  in 2008. Dr. Zhu studied regularly and privately with Chen Style Taichi Master George Xu in SF between 2001-2011 for foundation training. In 2010, Dr. Zhu embarked on a new journey studying Qin Quan, a unique internal Martial Arts system developed by Master Qin Wenqing in Rushan, China.

Dr. Zhu started her Qigong training in 1992 and received her Master level training at the International Life Science Academy in Sichuan, China. She is one of the most prominent instructors and translators of  her master’s teachings in the West. She received direct transmission from her Qigong master and was particularly instructed to pass on the teachings to benefit the world. In 2012, Dr. Liping created the Qi Dragon Qigong Certificate Program for the Heavenly Essence Qigong system, one of the rarest intensive training programs outside of China. Dr. Zhu has taught Qigong and Taichi domestically and internationally to many individuals and organizations for over 25 years and is a Qigong CEU provider for licensed acupuncturists.. She has published three instructional DVDs on Taichi and Qigong. She was a Professor of Qigong at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a faculty teaching Chinese Herbs and Nutrition and Qigong at San Francisco State University until she relocated to Eureka, Humboldt recently.

Dr. Zhu spent 10 years in residency at the San Francisco Zen Center where she received her Zen Buddhism training and became Shuso (Head Student) in 2010 when she started to give the teachings of the Dharma to the public. Click here to listen to her Dharma talks.

Dr. Zhu has received two Spiritual names.  One is Fu Hui (福慧 Blessings and Wisdom) from her Heavenly Essence Qigong Grandmaster; another is Qing Feng Hui Jian (清风慧剑 Clear Wind, Wisdom Sword) from her Zen teacher,  Soto Zen lineage Dharma Heir Teah Strozer.

Being a native of China, Dr. Zhu has an extensive background in ancient Chinese culture. She has been fortunate to have closely studied with many outstanding masters of Qigong, Taichi, internal Martial Arts and Chinese Medicine. She is proficient in English as she was an English professor in China and has been living and studying in the United States since 1996. Her unique background makes her a special liaison between the Eastern and Western cultures.
